Jharkhand: Maoist With ₹10 Lakh Reward Neutralised in Chaibasa Encounter

Chaibasa- Security forces in Jharkhand achieved a major success on Sunday after gunning down a Maoist commander carrying a ₹10 lakh bounty in Chaibasa’s Saranda forest.

The Maoist, identified as Amit Hasda alias Aaptan, was killed in an encounter under Goilkera police station limits of West Singhbhum district, Superintendent of Police Paras Rana confirmed. Arms and ammunition, including an SLR rifle and explosives, were recovered. A massive search operation has been launched to flush out remaining Maoist operatives in the area.

This development follows a deadly encounter in Palamu district on September 3, where two policemen lost their lives and another was critically injured during an operation targeting the TSPC’s zonal commander Shashikant Ganjhu, who also carries a ₹10 lakh reward.

Police said combing operations continue in both regions to eliminate the Maoist network.
