GST Rate Cuts Bring Festive Cheer in Hazaribagh, Residents Thank PM Modi

Hazaribagh — The revised GST rates, effective from today, were met with enthusiasm in Hazaribagh as locals, homemakers, traders, and political representatives collectively thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reforms have lowered prices across a wide range of goods, just in time for Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali celebrations.

From kitchen essentials to electronics, consumers are witnessing significant relief. Residents said that reduced costs of gas cylinders, groceries, and medicines would ease household budgets. Traders, meanwhile, expressed optimism about a revival in market activity, forecasting that festive sales could double compared to last year.

MP Manish Jaiswal noted that the reduction of GST slabs to just two has simplified compliance and broadened benefits. The move follows earlier relief measures, including income tax exemptions for incomes up to ₹12 lakh.

According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the GST overhaul will add around ₹2 lakh crore to the economy. Zero-tax slabs now include items like paneer, breads, UHT milk, stationery, and several essential drugs, while GST on electronics and appliances has been cut from 28% to 18%. The changes have already sparked optimism across households and markets alike.
