Govt moves to regulate unrecognised schools after HC order

Ranchi: The state government has stepped up efforts to curb unrecognized schools in the state. Following directives from the Jharkhand High Court, the state has amended the “Jharkhand Free and Compulsory Education Act” to make it mandatory for all schools to obtain formal recognition. Any school operating without approval will now be required to secure recognition, or face strict action.

The education department has already begun implementing the changes. Officials said that along with the revised rules, a robust monitoring system is being set up to ensure that no institution operates without proper authorization. Technical upgrades are being made to the department’s online portal, with all modifications expected to be completed by September. From October onward, schools will be able to apply for recognition through the portal.

The government believes this move will bring greater transparency to the education system and create a better learning environment for children. Many private schools had been running without recognition, collecting fees while operating outside regulatory norms. In line with the High Court’s orders and the government’s strict enforcement, these institutions will now be compelled to comply with regulations or shut down.
