Govt committed to safety, dignity of all, not any one religion: JMM

Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s central general secretary and spokesperson Vinod Pandey said the Hemant Soren government is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of every citizen, irrespective of religion, caste or region. Responding to allegations made by BJP state president Babulal Marandi against Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the state government, Pandey said the BJP has caused the greatest damage to Jharkhand’s identity and social fabric by injecting religion and hatred into every political discourse.

He dismissed BJP’s accusations as baseless and said the party survives only on lies, misinformation and communal polarisation. Referring to the recent administrative meeting on the security of a church in Simdega, Pandey clarified that it was purely a legal and law-and-order matter, not a decision favouring any particular faith. He cited the Chief Minister’s remarks that unity is the greatest strength of the people of Jharkhand, who “can neither be divided nor silenced.”

Pandey said Hemant Soren’s leadership reflects the spirit of religious harmony, built on mutual respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all faiths. This inclusive approach, he added, has rendered BJP’s divisive politics ineffective. He noted that the people of Jharkhand have demonstrated their trust in Soren’s leadership by electing him to power for a second consecutive term with a decisive majority.

Pandey stressed that the state government’s vision is clear: the safety and dignity of every individual must be protected. He said BJP is uneasy because the government continues to focus on social harmony and development, while BJP relies solely on false accusations and attempts at religious division.

The spokesperson pointed out that the government has consistently ensured the security of all places of worship, including Sarna sites, Manjhi thanas, temples, mosques and gurdwaras. Authorities have always intervened promptly during tense situations to restore peace, and citizens have responded with restraint and unity. BJP, however, chooses to ignore these facts because its agenda is limited to spreading fear and misinformation for electoral gain.

Pandey questioned Marandi on how many Sarna sites, temples or gurdwaras were actually protected during his tenure and how many incidents were addressed with real action. He concluded by saying that Jharkhand’s soil symbolises unity in diversity, where the core issue is not religious identity but the dignity and rights of its people. The Hemant Soren government, he said, remains firmly committed to defending those values.
