DC directs officials to ensure women’s participation in MGNREGA and complete playground construction at the earliest

Ramgarh: Deputy Commissioner Faiz Ahmed Mumtaz chaired a meeting of the district-level coordination committee at the Collectorate Hall on Thursday. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing development schemes and welfare projects across the district.

During the review of works under the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to create more person-days under MGNREGA and ensure employment for all eligible beneficiaries. He directed that women’s participation in MGNREGA works be increased and ordered the early completion of playgrounds being developed under the Poto Ho Sports Development Scheme. He further asked officials to identify new sites in rural areas for playground construction and keep strict vigil on encroachments on government land.

The DC reviewed works under the Birsa Irrigation Well Promotion Scheme, rejected transactions under MGNREGA, the Area Officer app, and the construction of vermi compost units, issuing several operational directives.

During the review of the Social Welfare Department, he instructed the District Social Welfare Officer to ensure adequate basic facilities at all Anganwadi centres. He directed that centres currently running in private buildings be shifted to government buildings without delay and ordered the identification of suitable land for new constructions.

The DC reviewed the availability of medicines and services at primary and community health centres and directed the Block Development Officers and Circle Officers to conduct regular inspections, prepare reports on facilities, and submit them to the district administration.

In reviewing the Panchayati Raj Department, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that all panchayat buildings be used regularly and reviewed works under the 15th Finance Commission. He also sought updates on the functioning of Panchayat Gyan Kendras.

For the Supply Department, the DC reviewed paddy procurement arrangements and instructed officials to ensure timely payment to farmers. He ordered strict verification of new ration card applications and action against ineligible beneficiaries availing the facility. He also directed that names of deceased cardholders be removed from ration cards.

In reviewing the Education Department, the DC directed electricity department officials to ensure power connections in all schools still lacking them. He also instructed the drinking water and sanitation division to ensure basic amenities in schools and Anganwadi centres.

While reviewing the Welfare Department, the DC examined progress under scholarship schemes and the Mukhyamantri Rozgar Srijan Yojana, and directed prompt disposal of pending cases related to forest rights pattas. Sub-Divisional Officers were instructed to investigate and submit reports on long-pending claims.

He also directed that all pending applications under the Jharkhand Maiya Samaan Yojana and other pension schemes be processed quickly, ensuring Aadhaar and mobile number updates for all beneficiaries.

In view of the upcoming Chhath festival, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Executive Officers of the Municipal Council and Cantonment Board to ensure cleanliness at all Chhath ghats and take necessary safety measures.

Reviewing the Animal Husbandry Department, he directed officials to coordinate with agriculture and allied departments to organise farmer and livestock fairs and to expedite the process of opening escrow accounts to facilitate welfare payments.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Forest Officer Nitish Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner Ashish Agrawal, Sub-Divisional Officer Anurag Kumar Tiwari, District Welfare Officer Siddharth Shankar Choudhary, District Social Welfare Officer Hindu Prabha Khalko, Land Reforms Deputy Collector Deepti Priyanka Kujur, District Education Officer Neelam Sharma, District Supply Officer Ranjita Toppo, Confidential Officer Ravindra Kumar Gupta, and other senior officials.
