Complete small and big schemes taken under Jal Jeevan Mission on time: CM

Ranchi: Chief Minister Champai Soren on Thursday reviewed the updated work progress of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department in the presence of officials in the Jharkhand Ministry.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the officials to complete all the small and big schemes taken under Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal) Gramin within the stipulated time limit.

The Chief Minister directed that all the houses where water has been supplied through taps, should review whether there is availability of water in the taps installed under the scheme or not.

The Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that water reaches all the houses covered under Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Chief Minister said that Jal Jeevan Mission is an important scheme to provide tap water to every house.

Our government is trying to solve the drinking water problem with full promptness.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to pay special attention to the availability of accessible drinking water and quality in connection works in the state by completing all the water supply projects run by the government on time.

The Chief Minister told the officials to work with special caution to ensure better operation and maintenance of rural water supply schemes.

The Chief Minister said that the progress of work on new tube wells approved at the Panchayat level should be expedited.

Be sure to get repair work done on damaged tube wells.

The Chief Minister said that people should not face any problem of pure drinking water during the rainy season.

The Chief Minister told the officials that the departments should also prepare a special action plan to avoid drinking water crisis in future.

The Chief Minister told the officials that the World Bank sponsored water supply scheme in Intagarh and Dudra Kamalpur under Seraikela-Kharsawan district was taken in 2023, but due to the negligence of the agency, this scheme could not be completed, the department which has been negligent by the agency will take action against that.

Ensure action is taken and this water supply scheme should be completed by getting new approval.

The Chief Minister directed the officials that in the past days, such reports have been received through various mediums that in some districts of the state, villagers are bringing drinking water from water sources like lime, ponds, wells, in the areas where such reports are being received.

By conducting tests there, it is mandatory to ensure provision of pure drinking water.

Whatever complaints the department is receiving related to drinking water, resolve them at all costs.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to complete all the multi-rural water supply schemes which have been targeted to be completed by the month of September-October 2024, at all costs by the month of July-August 2024.

The Chief Minister said that there are some mountains within the state from where waterfalls fall, water supply schemes can also be taken up in those places.
