Chahatt Khanna Says Director Saw Shades of Madhuri Dixit in Her for Chandramukhi Role

Mumbai: Actress Chahatt Khanna is all set to play the role of Chandramukhi in her upcoming OTT film, a fresh take on Devdas. Stepping into a character famously portrayed by Madhuri Dixit, Chahatt spoke about the depth and intensity of the role.

“It’s an honor to play Chandramukhi. Of course, Madhuri ji is a legend, and I can’t even compare myself to her. But the director felt I had a slight resemblance to her, and that’s how I was chosen for this part,” she said.

Chahatt filmed her portions under challenging weather conditions. Recalling the experience, she shared, “We shot in Shahpur last year when it was 60°. We only did night shifts, and by 7 AM we would wrap up because it became unbearably hot. I’m playing Chand (Chandramukhi), as this story is about Devdas, but told through Chanda’s perspective.”

This adaptation presents the story from Chandramukhi’s point of view, offering audiences a closer look at her journey, resilience, and untold emotions.

The project also stars Vishal Kotian and Krissann Barretto Karamchandani. Chahatt hopes to bring a fresh interpretation to Chandramukhi through this film.

Khanna has previously been part of several notable projects, including Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Yaatris, Prassthanam, Qubool Hai, and others. While her professional life has flourished, her personal life has seen its share of struggles.

Chahatt married for the first time at just 19, having fallen in love at 16. The marriage lasted only four months and ended bitterly. Her second marriage to Farhan Mirza, son of veteran actor Shahrukh Mirza, lasted five years, and the couple had two daughters.

However, that relationship also ended acrimoniously, with Chahatt accusing Farhan of sexual and mental harassment and alleging that she was coerced into converting to Islam.
