Blue Energy Motors Secures $50 Million to Boost Green Trucking in India

Mumbai — Blue Energy Motors (BEM), a pioneer in manufacturing LNG and electric heavy-duty trucks in India, has raised a total of $50 million in funding to accelerate its green mobility push.

Backed by Essar and FPT (Iveco Group) as strategic investors and technology partners, the company recently secured an additional $30 million from Nikhil Kamath and Omnitex Industries in its latest round.

With an annual production capacity of 10,000 trucks, BEM plans to use the fresh funding to scale up operations, expand its LNG and electric truck portfolio, and strengthen its nationwide green mobility footprint.

India’s transportation sector accounts for nearly 15 per cent of the country’s total carbon emissions. Positioned at the forefront of decarbonisation, BEM has already deployed around 1,000 LNG trucks with leading Fortune 500 companies. Collectively, these vehicles have clocked more than 60 million km, reducing carbon emissions by over 15,000 tonnes of CO2.

“The fresh fund raise empowers Blue Energy Motors to accelerate India’s shift to clean, sustainable freight transportation,” said Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder & Managing Director of BEM. “By leveraging LNG and electric technologies, we aim to drive scalable, zero-emission freight solutions while creating long-term value for our investors.”

Investor Nikhil Kamath remarked, “The future of logistics in India will be built on clean, scalable technology. The real opportunity lies in solutions that deliver efficiency and impact at scale — and Blue Energy has achieved that.”

Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, reaffirmed the group’s support, saying, “Our continued investment underscores confidence in Blue Energy Motors’ innovative approach to decarbonising heavy-duty transportation. This commitment aligns with Essar’s vision of advancing sustainable business practices across industries.”

As India transitions towards cleaner, more energy-efficient mobility, Blue Energy Motors is positioning itself as a key driver of the country’s green freight revolution.
