Ranchi: The AJSU party has slammed Hemant Soren government, claiming it has failed to maintain law and order in the state. According to party sources, violent crimes such as murders and rapes continue unabated, yet the government has shown little urgency in posting 39 trained Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) officers who have been waiting for assignments.
AJSU general secretary and former Hazaribagh Lok Sabha candidate Sanjay Mehta highlighted that between January and June 2025, the state recorded 661 murders and 922 rapes, citing official Jharkhand Police data. He noted that the July to September crime figures have not yet been released, which could further reflect the deteriorating security situation. Mehta said the increasing incidents, particularly those linked to land disputes, combined with misuse of administrative machinery, have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among citizens.
The 39 DSPs, all successful candidates from the 7th to 10th JPSC batches, have completed their training but have been performing duties only as “trainees” over the past two years. Mehta criticized this underutilization, emphasizing that while serious crimes continue, trained officers remain idle.
In a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Mehta urged that these officers be deployed in the field rather than confined to administrative files. He called for optimal use of all available human resources to strengthen law and order and demanded the immediate posting of the 39 DSPs. AJSU has stated it will continue to hold the government accountable, asserting that the administration is failing on all fronts and pledging to raise citizens’ concerns persistently.
