Urvashi Rautela Makes Musical Debut as Lead Vocalist and Writer of EDM Track ‘Heart Controller’

Mumbai- Actress Urvashi Rautela has ventured into music with her electronic dance music (EDM) track ‘Heart Controller’, taking on the roles of lead vocalist and lyricist.

Speaking to IANS about her musical debut, Urvashi said she had long been drawn to electronic dance music and wanted to explore the genre beyond her established image as a Bollywood actress. She added that the track combines her musical expression with elements of Indian culture and tradition.

“I am truly honoured to become India’s first Bollywood EDM singer billed as the lead vocalist to sing a full-length EDM record. It is a first for a Bollywood actress and, in my view, a first in Bollywood history,” she said.

Explaining her connection with the genre, the actress said she viewed EDM as more than an extension of her screen persona. She wanted to explore it as a vocalist and writer through ‘Heart Controller’.

The actress said the track was intended to reach both established EDM listeners and audiences unfamiliar with Indian artists taking centre stage in a full-length electronic music production.

Urvashi also spoke about the cultural references woven into the song, saying its lyrics draw on the Mahabharata, Indian heritage and tradition. She explained that her surname, Rautela, was deliberately incorporated into the verse, emphasising the importance of pronouncing it correctly.

Discussing the title, she offered her own interpretation of her name, saying that, in the reading that inspired the song, “Ur” represents the heart and “Vashi” the controller. This, she explained, led to the title ‘Heart Controller’.

The actress said the response from listeners who had already heard the track had been encouraging. She also highlighted that she was presenting the vocals herself rather than lending her voice to a featured artist.

Urvashi expressed gratitude to Oriental House and Hollywood producers Asln and Timor Jana for their collaboration on the project. She described the release as an opportunity to share her musical expression with audiences around the world.

Urvashi made her Bollywood debut opposite Sunny Deol in ‘Singh Saab the Great’. She subsequently appeared in films including ‘Sanam Re’, alongside Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam, ‘Great Grand Masti’, the third instalment in the ‘Masti’ comedy franchise, and ‘Hate Story 4’. She also made a special appearance in the song ‘Mon Amour’ from Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Kaabil’.
