BJP MLA booked over alleged remarks against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s mother

Ranchi- Jharkhand Police have registered an FIR against BJP MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwari of Garhwa over alleged objectionable remarks about Rupi Soren, the mother of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The case was registered at Ranka police station in Garhwa on the basis of a written complaint filed by Shravan Singh Kharwar, a resident of Gasedag village. Police said the complaint relates to a video containing the alleged remarks that was circulated on social media.

According to the complaint, Tiwari allegedly made the remarks at a time when Rupi Soren was unwell and undergoing treatment at a hospital. The complainant alleged that the comments were derogatory and said they had offended members of the Scheduled Tribe community.

Kharwar also told the police that a recording of the video could be submitted on a pen drive as evidence. He sought action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Police said the video was originally aired on a YouTube channel on September 28 before being circulated more widely on social media. An FIR was subsequently registered and an investigation launched.

Investigators are examining the video and the circumstances surrounding the alleged remarks. Police said the full context of the comments and any further legal action would be determined based on the findings of the investigation.

There was no immediate response from Tiwari to the allegations.
