Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that paper leaks and examination-related irregularities have grown beyond a state-specific issue and are now emerging as a national concern. He added that, if required, he would even take up the matter with the Union Home Minister to ensure justice for students.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Raj Bhavan, Soren addressed the ongoing student agitation in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations for the second time in less than 24 hours.
The Chief Minister said the state government was closely monitoring the situation and assured that concrete action would follow once the ongoing investigations were completed.
Emphasising that the government remains accessible to all, Soren said anyone with grievances is free to approach the administration. He assured that the concerns and demands raised by students would be examined with seriousness and dealt with appropriately.
He said agencies investigating the alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations are carrying out their work independently, while the government is keeping a close watch on the progress of the probe. Reiterating his commitment to the state’s youth, Soren said no injustice would be allowed and that the government was determined to ensure a fair and transparent outcome.
Soren also observed that allegations of paper leaks are no longer limited to Jharkhand, claiming that similar incidents have surfaced in several other states. However, he alleged that adequate action had not been taken elsewhere to address the problem.
According to the Chief Minister, he briefed Governor Gangwar on the developments during their meeting. Referring to the Governor’s recent visit to New Delhi, Soren said Gangwar had met both the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister and discussed several issues concerning Jharkhand. If necessary, he added, the state government would also raise the paper leak issue with the Centre.
Meanwhile, Raj Bhavan, in an official statement, said Governor Gangwar stressed the importance of maintaining transparency, fairness and public trust in examination and recruitment processes. He emphasised that recruitment commissions must function in a manner that leaves no room for doubts about their credibility.
Soren also assured the Governor that the state government remains committed to ensuring justice for students and taking impartial action in the ongoing investigations.
