Mumbai: Actress Adah Sharma has voiced her concern over the devastating flood situation in Assam, urging people to come forward and support families affected by the disaster.
Sharing an emotional message on Instagram, the The Kerala Story actress highlighted the scale of the crisis, saying that relentless flooding has submerged nearly 900 villages, impacted around 7 lakh people, and forced close to 3 lakh residents to take refuge in relief camps.
Adah described the heartbreaking reality faced by flood-hit families, asking people to imagine watching floodwaters sweep away their homes, belongings, crops, and livelihoods, while leaving them uncertain about the future. She also spoke about the emotional pain of parents having to place their children on rescue boats with little more than the clothes they were wearing.
In her post, she appealed to those who are able to help by donating through trusted relief organisations, saying that even small contributions can provide essentials such as food, safe drinking water, medicines, and shelter to families struggling to rebuild their lives.
Earlier, actress Bhumi Pednekar had also appealed to citizens across the country to stand in solidarity with the flood-affected people of Assam.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in the state remains critical. According to the latest Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS) update, the death toll has risen to 62, with 14 new fatalities reported. Of these, seven deaths were recorded in Charaideo, six in Sivasagar, and one in Jorhat, underscoring the severity of the ongoing disaster.
