Deoghar’s famous Amrapali mangoes have entered the international market for the first time, with a one-tonne consignment reaching Lulu Retail Store in Dubai. The milestone marks a major boost for the district’s horticulture sector and highlights the growing global demand for produce cultivated by local farmers.
The shipment, weighing 1,000 kilograms, was sourced from women farmers associated with the Mohanpur Aajeevika Mahila Kisan Producer Company and members of women self-help groups. This is the first time that fruit grown by farmers from Deoghar has been exported directly to an overseas retail market.
To meet international export standards, the mangoes were packed in specialised export-grade packaging designed to preserve their freshness and quality throughout the journey. The consignment was exported with the support of APEDA, ensuring compliance with global quality requirements.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania described the export as a landmark achievement for Deoghar’s farming community. He said the successful shipment has created new opportunities for local agricultural products to reach overseas markets, paving the way for better returns for farmers.
The district administration now plans to promote more locally grown produce in international markets, a move expected to enhance farmers’ incomes and strengthen Deoghar’s agricultural economy in the years ahead.
