Mumbai: Actress Shehnaaz Gill is gearing up to impress audiences with a powerful new role in the upcoming Punjabi film Ishqnama. At the film’s teaser launch event, the actress revealed that viewers will see her in a bold and emotionally intense avatar unlike anything she has done before.
Speaking exclusively, Shehnaaz shared that she plays Naseema, a Pakistani girl whose love knows no limits. Describing the film as a deeply emotional and real-life-inspired story, she said her character is determined and fearless when it comes to fighting for the person she loves.
“My character is a Pakistani girl named Naseema. There is also a boy named Nima, whom readers may know from the book Border Nama. It is based on a real story. Audiences will see a very emotional, strong and courageous girl who is willing to go to any extent for her love,” Shehnaaz said.
Her co-star, actor and acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva, also praised her performance in the film. He said working on Ishqnama was an emotional experience and expressed confidence that audiences would be moved by the scenes they share on screen.
Saurabh noted that Shehnaaz handled the different layers of her character with remarkable ease while creating a genuine collaborative environment on set. According to him, their scenes together feel authentic and emotionally impactful.
Directed by Arvvindr S. Khaira, Ishqnama is slated for a theatrical release on July 24.
