Ramgarh: Acting on strict instructions from Deputy Commissioner Rituraj to curb illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, the district administration carried out a series of coordinated raids on April 24.
In a joint operation led by the mining inspector along with police from Barkakana outpost, raids were conducted in areas under Barkakana police station to check illegal mining, transport, and storage activities.
During the operation, a sand-laden tractor (Mahindra 475 DI) carrying around 100 cubic feet of sand was intercepted near Arya Bal Vikas School, Ghutuwa. The vehicle was found without valid transport documents and was seized along with the mineral.
In another raid around 9:45 AM, a second tractor (Indo Farm 3035 DI), also loaded with approximately 100 cubic feet of sand, was caught near Urlung railway bridge on a rural road leading towards Sirka. This vehicle too lacked valid transit permits and was seized.
Authorities have registered FIRs against the vehicle owners, drivers, and others involved under provisions related to theft of government property, loss of mining revenue, and violations of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and Jharkhand mining rules.
Later in the day, around 1 PM, surprise vehicle checks were conducted near the PVUNL plant area under Patratu police station. During inspection, a Swaraj 733M tractor carrying stone chips was found operating without valid transport documents. Additionally, a Hyva truck (registration number JH02AV 9179) was detected transporting around 412 cubic feet more mineral than permitted.
Both vehicles were seized under relevant provisions of Jharkhand Minor Mineral Rules and have been kept at Patratu police station for further legal action.
