Deoghar:The much-awaited player auction for the Sw. Vardhan Khawade Tennis Ball Cricket Trophy was successfully held on Saturday, with 12 teams actively participating in the bidding process. Mantu Jha emerged as the costliest player, being picked by ZOI Eleven for 9500.The auction was conducted at Anjula Mansion auditorium in the presence of the organizing committee, where teams selected players to form their squads.
The tournament will be held from May 3 to May 12 at KKN Stadium, featuring more than 208 players from across Deoghar district.Chairman of the tournament committee Dr. Sunil Khawade said that the event is expected to be a historic cricket tournament.
He informed that the winning team will receive a prize of 110000, while the runner-up will be awarded 55000. Individual awards such as Man of the Series, Best Batsman, Bowler, Fielder, and Wicketkeeper will also be given.
He added that the tournament, earlier known by another name, has now been dedicated to the memory of Vardhan Khawade with a new identity. It is being seen as one of the leading tennis ball cricket championships in Jharkhand. Highlighting the popularity of tennis ball cricket, he said that the sport is rapidly growing among youth, especially in small towns and rural areas, as it requires fewer resources and provides a strong platform for emerging players.
The organizing committee aims to take this tournament to a higher level in the coming years and establish it as a recognized event beyond the state.
Participating Teams: Mohanpur Tigers, Mukesh Flower, Mishra Eleven, Trikal Eleven, Paradise Super, PVR Panther, Virans Stylish, RC Eleven, ZOI Eleven, Kailasha Fighter, Maa Mansa Club, and Badshah Eleven.
