Los Angeles — Hollywood star Eva Longoria has credited the strong women in her family for shaping her confidence and helping her build a successful career, saying she always believed she was destined to achieve big things.
In an interview with People.com, the actress shared that she grew up surrounded by inspiring female role models. “So many people have guided me in my life. I have nine aunts, three sisters and 18 female cousins. I was surrounded by smart, independent and successful women,” she said.
Longoria explained that these influences helped shape her ambitions early on. She noted that she never had to look far for inspiration, as she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her mother and sisters. Even though she wasn’t sure about her career path — whether becoming a dentist, lawyer or something else — she was certain she would succeed.
The actress also previously told Byrdie that she never doubted her own talent, even during challenging moments in her career. Reflecting on her long-standing presence in the entertainment industry, she said her confidence came from the values instilled by the women around her, describing them as independent, strong, intelligent and charitable.
Longoria added that her self-belief helped her navigate the highs and lows of Hollywood. Recalling her first billboard appearance, she said she confidently responded to someone’s surprise by saying, “Me. I thought it. I dreamt it,” emphasizing the importance of backing oneself.
She concluded that unwavering self-confidence is key to achieving success, saying that believing in yourself can take you a long way.
