Los Angeles: Rapper Cardi B, known for experimenting with DIY hair treatments, recently revealed that one of her home remedies had an unexpected — and unpleasant — side effect: she smelled like food for months.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cardi B admitted she added raw garlic directly to her hair care routine — and stuck with it for six months. “I put garlic, but I put it too raw in my hair… every single time I would sweat, I smelled like a pasta bowl. It was gross,” she told host Jimmy Fallon.
Fallon joked that at least vampires wouldn’t bother her, prompting Cardi to laugh and respond, “Well, I am the vampire.” She quickly added that she wouldn’t repeat the experiment, acknowledging, “It didn’t work out.”
The rapper explained she usually makes her own hair treatments based on personal research, including rice water and onion water. But this time she skipped boiling garlic and applied it raw, which led to her smelling “like a chicken Caesar salad for six months straight.”
Cardi B, who paused her North American Little Miss Drama Tour to promote her upcoming haircare line launching in April, said her beauty venture grew out of years of repairing damaged hair. She shared that she used homemade masks inspired by family recipes and her own research, eventually restoring her hair’s health.
While she mentioned cutting back on arguments with critics online, she later addressed negative comments about her brand during an Instagram Live. Calling the project deeply personal, she said hair struggles had affected her throughout her life and that she wanted to share her journey with others.
