Mumbai — In a creative blend of humor and public awareness, Delhi Police has turned to veteran actor Rakesh Bedi’s popular character ‘Jameel Jamali’ from Dhurandhar to promote road safety.
Taking to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), the department shared a cartoon-style poster featuring a caricature of the quirky character holding a black motorcycle helmet. The post cleverly reimagines the character’s famous dialogue, “Bachcha hai tu mera,” adding a safety twist: “Bachcha hai tu mera, ye le helmet pehan.”
Accompanying the visual, the caption reinforces the message in a playful tone: “Helmet pehnega tabhi syana banega mera bachcha,” urging riders to adopt safe practices.
The character ‘Jameel Jamali,’ portrayed by Bedi, is depicted in the film as a cunning Pakistani politician from Karachi’s Lyari, known for navigating complex power dynamics and forming unexpected alliances, including working as an Indian intelligence asset.
Dhurandhar, the first part of the duology released in 2025, features a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film revolves around a high-risk undercover counter-terrorism mission, where an Indian agent infiltrates criminal and political networks in Karachi to dismantle a terror plot targeting India.
Its sequel, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” continues the story, focusing on the agent’s mission to counter larger threats while avenging the 26/11 attacks.
A seasoned actor, Rakesh Bedi has featured in over 150 films since the 1970s. He is widely loved for his comic roles in classics like Chashme Buddoor and Mera Damad, along with memorable appearances in television shows such as Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Shrimaan Shrimati, Yes Boss, and Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain.
