Ranchi: Municipal Corporation administrator Sushant Gaurav intensified preparations for Chhath Mahaparv by inspecting several city ponds and reviewing cleaning, lighting, security and devotee facilities. Gaurav urged all officers and staff to speed up work so devotees find clean and safe surroundings during the festival.
At Button Talab he found cleanliness acceptable but ordered continued cleaning drives, immediate painting of steps, installation of lights, barricading around pond and bollards along the road, and action against those writing names or numbers on steps; entry routes must be kept swept and water-sprayed.
At Shalimar Talab in Dhurwa officials were asked to install barricades and red ribbons according to depth, and devotees were requested to deposit offerings only in designated immersion pits. In Jagannathpur Talab he directed an intensified cleaning campaign with additional staff, aesthetic improvements, alum and bleaching treatments, high-mast lighting and regular weed-harvesting to keep water clean, and asked pathways be leveled with paver blocks.
At Dhurwa Dam cleanliness was satisfactory but completion of changing rooms and other amenities, plus barricading and regular path cleaning, were ordered. Gaurav said the goal is to keep all ghats clean, safe and well lit during Chhath; deputy administrator Gautam Prasad Sahu, assistant administrators, sanitation and engineering officers and corporation staff accompanied him during inspections.
