Godda: Police in Godda scored a major success in a crackdown on illegal liquor. On Sunday evening, Basantray police received a tip-off around 6:30 pm that a person was transporting illegal foreign liquor from Derma Mor to Kurma road heading towards Bihar. Acting on the information, police, under the supervision of the Superintendent, launched a checkpoint operation at Lochni Mor.
At approximately 7:15 pm, a man on a motorcycle carrying a bag on his back was spotted. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee, but with the support of armed forces, he was apprehended. The accused identified himself as Kamdev Yadav, 45, son of late Chintaman Yadav, a resident of Tilwadi, Thana Dhoraiya, Banka district, Bihar. A search of his bag revealed foreign/English liquor, and he failed to produce any valid documents for the consignment.
The seized items include 39 bottles of Royal Stag (375 ml), 3 bottles of Blender’s Pride (375 ml), and 3 bottles of McDowell’s (375 ml), along with the red Apache motorcycle (registration BR10AK0153) used in the transportation. Kamdev Yadav has been taken into judicial custody.
