Mumbai — Actress Sangeeta Bijlani, whose house was ransacked earlier this year, has spoken out about the lingering stress and trauma following the burglary.
The actress, who attended an award ceremony in Pune on Saturday, interacted with the media and revealed that she has urged the police to expedite the investigation.
Speaking about the incident at her Pavana residence, Sangeeta said, “I have met SP Sandeep Singh Gill in Pune. I came here especially to request him to move the process faster because of the robbery at my place. I do feel very unsafe as a woman living in my own home, which has been home for me for the last 20 years.”
According to reports, burglars broke into Sangeeta Bijlani’s bungalow in the Pawandharan area and stole a television worth Rs 7,000 and Rs 50,000 in cash — a total loss of Rs 57,000.
The bungalow, located in the Tikona Peth area of Pune district, had been unoccupied for about four months. The theft was discovered on July 18, 2025, when Sangeeta arrived at around 9:30 a.m. The intruders reportedly entered from the rear side of the house and took valuables from the first floor. A case has been registered at the Lonavla Rural Police Station, though the culprits remain at large.
Sangeeta Bijlani, 65, began her career in modelling at the age of 16 and was crowned Miss India Universe in 1980. She represented India at the Miss Universe pageant in Seoul, South Korea, where she won the Best National Costume award designed by her mother, Poonam Bijlani.
She made her Bollywood debut in 1988 with Qatil, opposite Aditya Pancholi, and went on to appear in notable films such as Tridev, Hathyar, Jurm, Yodha, Yugandhar, Izzat, and Lakshman Rekha. She also starred in a bilingual Hindi–Kannada film opposite Vishnuvardhan and collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt, Mukul Anand, J.P. Dutta, Rahul Rawail, and N. Chandra.
