HC-monitored RIMS governing council meet approves key decisions

Ranchi: Under the supervision of the High Court, the RIMS Governing Council held a meeting on Thursday. Attending the meeting were departmental minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, High Court-nominated observer Amareshwar Sahay, Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, RIMS Director Rajkumar, Amit Kumar, and other officials.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Ansari outlined the decisions taken. Salaries for ANMs and GNM staff will be increased during Diwali, and remuneration for outsourced health workers will also be raised. The minister emphasized that the government’s primary goal is to provide improved services at RIMS, and several measures were approved to enhance facilities.

Acknowledging challenges in handling deceased patients, the council approved the purchase of five new mortuary vans and immediate financial assistance of ₹5,000 per beneficiary via UPI, without any eligibility criteria. The annual budget for this provision is estimated at ₹7 crore. Plans for new ambulances equipped with advanced medical devices were also approved to ensure safe patient transport.

To address rising patient pressure, a new building within the RIMS campus will house additional facilities, adding approximately 94 beds. The High Court-mandated objective of offering comprehensive pathological tests on campus has largely been met, although MRI services are yet to commence.

Intern medical students will receive a stipend of ₹30,000, and MBBS seats are set to increase to 250 in the near future. Postgraduate seats will also expand, and super-specialty seats will increase from the current nine to an expected 50. A high-tech testing laboratory is planned in Ranchi to reduce dependency on facilities in other states.

Responding to allegations of a ₹50 crore scam raised by the opposition, Dr. Ansari dismissed the claims as baseless, reiterating his focus on service delivery. The next RIMS Governing Council meeting is scheduled for 12 November.
