Ranchi: The High Court on Tuesday heard a public interest petition demanding proper maintenance of major roads in the state capital. During the hearing, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) informed the court that the city’s sewer and drainage system is divided into four zones, with RMC handling Zone 1, while the state government is responsible for Zones 2, 3, and 4.
RMC stated that under Zone 1, work on areas including Ratu Road, Bajra, Pandra, Kanke Road, Morahabadi, and parts of Booti Mod is nearing completion. Petitioner Shubham Kataruka, however, told the court that RMC had provided incomplete information regarding Zone 1. He pointed out that critical details such as the exact layout of sewer pipes, locations of treatment plants, and final disposal of wastewater were not clarified.
Following this, the court directed RMC to submit a detailed report on Zone 1’s sewer and drainage system. It also sought a status update from the state government regarding work in Zones 2, 3, and 4.
