Ramgarh: Dr. Randhir Kumar, a resident of Naitand village in Jamua block, represented India at the United Nations Conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 3 to 5 October 2025. The event was organised under the joint auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Australian Embassy, and the Irish Embassy in Vietnam.

The three-day conference brought together over 150 delegates from around 60 countries. Eight ambassadors and consular officials from various nations also attended and presented their views on global challenges. Representatives of major international organisations, including UNICEF, UNESCO, the World Health Organization, UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund, and the World Food Programme, participated in the discussions.

Dr. Randhir represented India on behalf of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). The UNESCO Council meeting featured delegates from 23 countries, who exchanged views on the role of technology in delivering education to rural and underprivileged areas, digital learning, traditional systems of education, and the need for transformative reforms in global education.

Presenting a position paper, Dr. Randhir spoke extensively on education, the Indian knowledge tradition, the challenge of overcoming social backwardness, and the relevance of UNESCO in promoting culture and art. He highlighted the framework of India’s education system, the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, and the government’s efforts to expand digital learning in rural regions. He also called for stronger international collaboration to bring about substantial changes in global education practices.

Expressing concern over increasing human rights violations worldwide, Dr. Randhir urged the United Nations to address the issue comprehensively and incorporate human rights education into secondary school curricula across all countries.
