EC seeks I-T report on Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh’s dual PAN issue

Ranchi: The Election Commission has sought details from the Income Tax Department regarding allegations that Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh holds two Permanent Account Numbers (PANs). The action follows a formal complaint lodged by BJP leader Biranchi Narayan.

According to the complaint, one PAN is registered in Ramgarh district, where the father’s name is mentioned as Sangram Singh—who is actually Shweta Singh’s husband. The second PAN, issued from Gurgaon, lists the father’s name as Dinesh Singh.

Biranchi Narayan submitted the complaint in writing to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, alleging potential discrepancies and misuse of identity. In response, the Election Commission has written to the Income Tax Department to verify the authenticity of the claims and confirm whether two PANs exist under Shweta Singh’s name.
