BJP presents 22-point suggestion list before 16th Finance Commission

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted a detailed list of 22 suggestions to the 16th Finance Commission during its meeting in Ranchi. Represented by Sudhir Srivastava, State Convener of BJP’s Legal Cell, and Rakesh Prasad, State Vice President, the party highlighted several pressing issues related to governance, public welfare, and development in Jharkhand.

Among the key demands, the BJP called for a comprehensive year-wise report on Jharkhand’s tax revenue since the state’s formation. The delegation stressed the importance of holding panchayat and municipal elections on time so that local bodies can receive central grants without delay. The party also urged the government to increase compensation for victims of lightning strikes from ₹4 lakh to ₹5 lakh, and to extend compensation to families of those who die from drowning in rivers or ponds.

In rural areas, the BJP emphasized the need for compensation for damage to life and property caused by wild elephant attacks. The state government was urged to release data regarding accident prevention measures and to ensure transparency in the disbursal of educational grants.

The party proposed the introduction of a uniform school dress code under the concept of “One Nation, One Dress” to ease financial pressure on parents. It also supported the idea of simultaneous elections across the country and demanded that the Election Commission publish detailed benefits of implementing “One Nation, One Election.” BJP recommended stronger efforts to link voter lists with Aadhaar and suggested that voters be provided one-day insurance coverage at polling booths during elections.

Concerns were also raised about the condition of infrastructure in the state. The party called for urgent action to improve roads, schools, and other basic facilities. It recommended that all government schools be equipped with toilets, playgrounds, and science laboratories. The ongoing drinking water crisis in Jharkhand was also brought to the Commission’s notice, along with a demand to develop key religious sites such as Deoghar and Rajrappa to improve facilities for pilgrims.
