Ranchi: In a sweeping administrative overhaul, the Jharkhand government has transferred 48 IPS officers, including 15 Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), following the earlier reshuffle of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in 20 districts. The changes come as part of a broader strategy to revamp the administrative and policing apparatus across the state.
The latest notification, issued by the state home department, includes significant changes in key districts such as Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Lohardaga, and Ranchi. Notably, both the City and Rural SPs of Ranchi have been replaced, marking a substantial reconfiguration of the capital’s policing structure. The state is also expected to transfer officers at the DSP rank in the coming days.
This follows a major reshuffle earlier in the week when 46 IPS officers were transferred, and two others were given additional responsibilities. That round of transfers included senior officers across ADG, IG, DIG, and SP levels, reshaping the leadership at nearly every tier of the police force.
Among the senior appointments, Tadasha Mishra has been made Special Secretary in the Department of Home, Jail, and Disaster Management. Sanjay Latkar has been posted as ADG, Railways; Priya Dubey as ADG, Training and Modernisation; and T. Kandasamy as ADG, Operations.
In IG-level changes, Manoj Kaushik is now IG, Ranchi Zone, while Akhilesh Kumar Jha has been posted to the Police Academy in Hazaribagh. A.V. Homkar is the new IG, Railways, and Prabhat Kumar of the Special Branch has been given additional charge of IG, Jails. Michael Raj has moved to IG, Operations, while Kranti Gade Deshi now heads Bokaro Zone. Narendra Kumar has been named IG, Human Rights. Shailendra Kumar Singh has been posted as IG, Dumka, and Sudarshan Mandal has received additional charge as IG, Headquarters.
At the DIG level, Sanjeev Kumar is now DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau; Y.S. Ramesh has taken charge as DIG, SCRB; and Surendra Kumar Jha is DIG, Personnel. Manoj Ratan Chothe has been appointed DIG, Special Branch; Sandhya Rani Mehta is DIG, Budget; Shailendra Prasad Barnwal is DIG, Special Branch; Naushad Alam Ansari is DIG, Palamu; Chandan Kumar Jha is DIG, CID; and Anuranjan Kispotta is DIG, Kolhan.
SP-level changes include Kusum Poonia, who has been appointed Commandant of JAP-9, in addition to the newly announced 15 SP and SSP postings in key districts.
This multi-phase administrative reshuffle is being viewed as one of the most extensive in recent years, aimed at infusing new energy, improving governance, and strengthening law and order throughout Jharkhand.
