Ranchi: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) announced the Class 10 board exam results on Tuesday, with Geetanjali, a student of Indira Gandhi Residential Girls School, Hazaribagh, emerging as the state topper by scoring 98.60%.
Geetanjali, a native of Garhwa district, is the daughter of Umesh Pal, an assistant teacher at a government school.
The results were released by School Education and Literacy Minister Ramdas Soren at a press conference held at the JAC Auditorium in Namkum, Ranchi.
This year, girls dominated the merit list, securing the top ranks. Out of the top five positions, four were claimed by girls, while the overall merit list includes 12 girls and only 2 boys among the top scorers.
The second position (98.2%) was shared by Ritu Kumari, Amrit Gupta, Pooja Kumari, and Amar Kumar.
The third rank (97.8%) went to Shivani Kumari and Vikas Pramanik.
Shreya Kumari and Sakshi Kumari secured the fourth rank with 97.6%, while Shubham Kumar Patra, Tahreen Fatma, Bhumika Mishra, Varsha Kumari, Tanishq Kumari, and Komal Kumari shared the fifth rank with 97.4%.
Out of 4,33,944 registered candidates, 4,31,488 appeared in the exam, and 91.71% successfully passed — an improvement over last year’s 90.39% pass rate.
A breakdown of the results shows:
- 2,02,140 students passed with first division
- 1,57,294 with second division
- 17,521 with third division
Among districts, Koderma recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.83%, followed by Pakur (96.83%), Latehar (96.25%), and Jamtara (96%).
The Class 10 board examinations were conducted between February 11 and March 9 across 1,297 exam centres in the state.
Students can check their results on the official websites: jac.jharkhand.gov.in and jacresults.com. The council has confirmed that the online marksheet will be valid until the official school-issued certificate is distributed.
