Ranchi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against ten individuals in a ₹5.33 crore bank fraud case involving officials of Bank of India and private individuals. Those named include Jatin Sahay, owner of Trust Diagnostic Centre; chartered accountant Pankaj Agarwal; valuer Sanjay Kumar; three bank officials; two borrowers; and two suppliers.
The case was registered following a complaint by senior officials of Bank of India. According to the FIR, Mayank Saha and Romi Saha defaulted on the repayment of multiple loans amounting to ₹5.33 crore, including a home loan of ₹38 lakh, a cash credit loan of ₹1.5 crore, and a term loan of ₹3 crore. The loans were allegedly secured using forged documents.
Investigations revealed that four flats in a residential project named Heera Heights, developed by Jatin Sahay, were pledged as collateral. Mayank Saha claimed a partnership with Sahay and stated that the loan would be used to purchase an MRI machine for the diagnostic centre. However, the CBI found that no such machine was ever procured. False quotations for the equipment were provided by Rajesh Kumar Srivastava and Kumar Rakesh, who were associated with the computer trade.
The loan documentation was prepared by chartered accountant Pankaj Agarwal and verified by bank valuer Sanjay Kumar. The CBI concluded that bank officials had knowingly sanctioned the loans as part of a planned conspiracy.
In February 2018, Mayank Saha applied for a ₹38 lakh home loan through the bank’s Retail Banking Centre, which forwarded the application to its Ratu Road branch. That same month, he also sought a ₹1.5 crore cash credit loan from the SMECC branch of the bank for his firm, M/s Icon Infra Services, claiming to have received multiple work orders. This loan was approved under the CGTMSE scheme and also sent to the Ratu Road branch.
Later, in May 2018, Romi Saha applied for a ₹3 crore term loan in the name of her firm, M/s Clear Imaging Services, which was likewise approved and disbursed by the same branch.
The chargesheet names Jatin Sahay, Keval Kumar Garg (Assistant General Manager at Bank of India), Jayakant Lal Das (bank officer), Subrata Haldar (finance officer), Mayank Saha and Romi Saha (proprietors of M/s Clear Imaging Services), Pankaj Agarwal (chartered accountant), Sanjay Kumar (valuer), and suppliers Rajesh Kumar Srivastava and Kumar Rakesh.
