How many town planners in the state and how many are needed asks HC

Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court has sought details of town planners from the state government. The court has asked to tell how many town planners are there in the state. How many posts are sanctioned for them and How many posts are vacant and how many town planners are needed. Further it has asked the government what action has been taken to fill the vacant posts.

On Thursday, a bench headed by Justice S Chandrasekhar directed the government to file the complete report through an affidavit by December 15. Radhika Shahdev and Lal Chintamani Nath Shahdev have filed a petition in this regard. During the hearing, Gajanand Ram, the town planner of the state government, appeared physically in the court.

Earlier, while hearing this matter, the court had sought information from the government regarding permanent appointment against sanctioned posts in Ranchi Municipal Corporation and RRDA. On which it was said on behalf of Gajanand Ram that appointment to the sanctioned post in Ranchi Regional Development Authority has not been done and employees are kept here on contract only.

Officers appointed on posts like Assistant Engineer, Executive Engineer in other departments of the State Government have been kept on deputation in Ranchi Municipal Corporation and RRDA. These officers do not even have the qualification of town planner.
