14 children victims of human trafficking hailing from Jharkhand freed in Delhi

Ranchi: Due to the meaningful efforts of Chief Minister Hemant Soren the victims of human trafficking are being freed and rehabilitated in their homes and in the same episode three boys and 11 girls from Jharkhand’s Sahebganj district who were victims of human trafficking have been freed in Delhi.

During the counseling of these children, it came to know that a 12-year-old girl named Rekha (fictitious name) was abducted by a person from her village and brought to Delhi a year ago and made to do domestic work in brothels in different areas of Delhi for one year. When the girl objected to this, she was taken to the red light area and sold. From there one day, seeing an opportunity, she escaped by jumping from the window and reached the police station with the help of an auto driver.

Police coordinated with Jharkhand Bhawan and traced the girl’s house. Rekha’s mother has died and father has remarried. In this episode, as soon as the Sahebganj district administration came to know that their children were rescued in Delhi, a systematic action was taken on this issue and formed a team under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Poonam Kumari.

This team is returning to Jharkhand by train after camping in Delhi for the last 06 days with 14 children. It was informed by the District Child Protection Officer that all these children will be continuously monitored by linking them with various schemes of the Jharkhand Government, so that these children do not become victims of human trafficking again.
