CM launches Sports Policy; announces minimum support of Rs 50,000 for players

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday launched the new sports policy of the state which is aimed at making Jharkhand among the leading states in the country in the sports field.

Addressing a function after launching the Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022 at the project building here he said that after the present government came into shape sports activities have rapidly increased in Jharkhand. He said that the new sports policy has been made for the next five years and is dedicated to the player’s coaches and trainers.

The Chief Minister said that he has seen from close quarters the love of the youth and their inclination towards sports therefore providing a platform to the players is a priority for the state government and exuded confidence that the new sports policy framed by the state government will help the players move forward without facing any obstacles in their path. He said that manner in which the state government has taken steps forward in the area of sports there was no doubt that in the future Jharkhand will emerge as a force to reckon with in the area of sports.

The Chief Minister said that all have seen that players from other states of the country have registered their presence in various competitions organized in Jharkhand in the past and the trainers here have also done quality training. He said that the children of Jharkhand have not only represented the state but the country in many sports and have brought laurels to the state and the country in the world by winning medals.

He said that the players of Jharkhand who are showing their talent in the field of sports all over the world, prepare themselves with very limited resources adding that it is a matter of pride for everyone that the children emerge from the limited resources and keep their place at the first position in the country and emerge as the number one player in the country.

To take this spirit of the players here further the government has worked to bring a new sports policy in the state he said. Hemant Soren said that the policy would be amended from time to time as per the need. He said that he has also given instructions to the Department of Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs in this regard.

The Chief Minister said that in the coming time, a provision would be made to give a minimum of Rs 50,000 as assistance to the players by bringing changes in the sports policy. The Chief Minister said that the government is seriously considering how the future of the players here can be secured after an age limit. The Chief Minister said that there is a need to give more momentum to the stadiums being built in the state. The state government is also contemplating promoting sports activities in schools, an action plan will be prepared for this, he added. 

Hemant Soren said that the pace of development in Jharkhand had come to a standstill in the last 20 years but the present government has emphasized on increasing the internal resources of the state. The Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to make each and every citizen a part of the government and draw a long line of development with their help.

According to the sufficient resources in Jharkhand, the government is working to provide assistance to every section in some way or the other. He said that the government is worried about the elderly, youth, women and children as the all-round development of all is also the responsibility of the state government. 

The Chief Minister said that the benefits of Jharkhand’s mineral wealth have always been going to big traders and establishments but this government is making use of the natural resources here to benefit all the people of the state to enhance the talents of tribal and local children.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Hafizul Hasan said that despite all the adverse circumstances the Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022 is being launched under the guidance and inspiration of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

This sports policy has been mainly made with the aim of a better future of the players here, spread of sports activities in Jharkhand, employment to youth, confidence in the general public and establishing of Jharkhand on the national and international stage.
