Twelve victims of human trafficking hailing from Jharkhand rescued from Delhi

Ranchi: With the fruitful efforts of Chief Minister Hemant Soren the victims of human trafficking are being rehabilitated and rehabilitated in their homes. In this connection, ten girls from West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand who became victims of human trafficking, and a woman and a boy from Simdega district have been rescued in Delhi.

Among those rescued also included a one-and-a-half-year-old girl. Nodal officer of Integrated Rehabilitation Resource Center New Delhi Mrs Nachiketa said that Anu’s mother was brought to Delhi and she was pregnant at that time. Due to some reason in that state she became mentally unwell. In this condition, she gave birth to a baby girl in Delhi. After birth, she was not able to even recognize her child. Delhi Police handed over the woman to the short stay home and the child to the Child Welfare Committee where the girl was staying in the welfare home.

About a year after the mother’s treatment, she expressed her desire to meet her baby girl. With the help of West Singhbhum district administration, the girl was reunited with her mother and along with the team of Integrated Rehabilitation Resource Center, the mother and her baby girl are being sent to Jharkhand.

One of the rescued children is only eight years old. The father of this child had died. Nothing is known of two of his four siblings. A brother lives with his uncle. This baby girl was sold by human traffickers in Delhi about a year ago. Among these children, both Sunita and Rekha (name changed) are being rescued for the second time from the clutches of human traffickers. A child sent by a human trafficker is abused both physically and mentally.

Cases have also been registered in Delhi regarding the physical abuse of many girls. Strict instructions have been given by the Women and Child Development Department to all the districts that the children of whichever district are rescued in Delhi, they will be rehabilitated in the district by the District Social Welfare Officer and Child Protection Officer.

In this connection taking initiative by the team of District Social Welfare Officer Anisha Kujur of West Singhbhum district and Sharad Kumar Gupta of District Child Protection, ten girls of their district and one woman and one boy were rescued from Delhi. All are being taken back to West Singhbhum by train.

These girls will be linked with various schemes run by the Social Welfare Department so that the girls do not become victims of human trafficking again. The Government of Jharkhand and the Department of Women and Child Development are very sensitive on human trafficking and believe in prompt action.

This is the reason why the Integrated Rehabilitation Resource Center is being run in Delhi, whose nodal officer Nachiketa is working to free the victims of human trafficking of Jharkhand and rehabilitate them back to their district of Jharkhand. It is pertinent to mention that as per the instructions of the local commissioner Mastram Meena the children who have been victims of human trafficking, misplaced or trapped by someone’s misguided and unprotected, by continuously visiting various children’s homes of Delhi by Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre, New Delhi, Action is being taken to send the girls back.

In this regard, after establishing constant coordination with Delhi Police, Child Welfare Committee, New Delhi and Child Welfare Committee of border states, victims of human trafficking are being identified and freed. After that work is being done to send the liberated people safely to their home district, where they are being rehabilitated.

The girls rescued from Delhi were brought through brokers. Such brokers are very active in Jharkhand, who lure small girls to Delhi by luring them to live a good life and selling them on the pretext of employing them in different houses. This earns them a hefty sum and makes the lives of these girls worse than hell.

Their parents also play an important role in sending the girls in the clutches of brokers. It has been seen many times that girls get trapped in the clutches of touts only with the consent of their parents, their relatives. According to the instructions of the Social Welfare Women and Child Development Department, the children being sent to Jharkhand will be continuously monitored through the Village Child Protection Committee (VLCPC) by connecting them with the welfare schemes, sponsorship, foster care, Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools run in the district, so that these.
