Government making continuous efforts for upliftment of tribal society: Hemant Soren

Ranchi: The state government is making continuous efforts for the upliftment of Tribal Society Chief Minister Hemant Soren said on Friday adding that after the formation of the state for the first time on August 9 and 10 Jharkhand Tribal Festival is being organised on a grand scale which is a matter of pride for the residents of the state.

Speaking after launching the logo of the function at the Vidhan Sabha auditorium here he said that in the program apart from Jharkhand people from the tribal communities of the other states will be also participating and assured that in the future also his government will provide more strength to such events.

The Chief Minister said that Jharkhand is a tribal-dominated state and members of the community have their separate histories and identity not only in the country but also across the world. He said that tribals who live in the different corners of the state have been fighting for decades to protect their society culture and civilization.

Soren further said that Jharkhand was the land of the brave where great men Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sidho-Kanhu, Veer Budhu Bhagat, Tilka Manjhi, Chand-Bhairav Telanga Khadia made their supreme sacrifices for the sake of their land and nation. He said that there are many undiscovered chapters in the history of the tribals which needed to be turned upon for their better understanding. 

The Chief Minister said that the state government has decided to take up the culture and tradition of the tribals on the national level and the Jharkhand Tribal Festival will be a milestone in this regard. He said that through the event the state government has tried to strengthen the voice of the tribals. The event was also graced by cabinet ministers Aalamgir Aalam, Champai Soren, Mithlesh Thakur, Hafizul Hassan and other senior government officials.
