Jharkhand Assembly passes first supplementary budget of Rs 3,436 Cr by voice vote

Ranchi: The first supplementary budget of Rs 3436 crore for the current financial year was passed by voice vote in the assembly on Tuesday during the ongoing Monsoon Session. AJSU MLA Lambodar Mahto had brought a cut motion on the supplementary budget but it was rejected.

Responding to the discussion on the supplementary budget, Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon said that the supplementary budget is in the interest of the state. Many things were left out at the time of the original budget, which is completed through supplementary, he said.

Oraon said Rs 556 crores has been provided under the non-planned head while Rs 1,436 crores have been provided under the plan head. He said Rs 197 crores is for the central scheme while Rs 1,006 crores in the state share in the centrally sponsored scheme. He said that a provision of Rs 624 crore has been made for the Panchayati Raj Department in the supplementary budget.

He said that a provision of Rs 465 crore has been made for the health department in the supplementary. He said that the supplementary proposal of the government would not affect the financial position of the state. “We will make up for this with better financial management. “
