Providing quality education to children in government schools in top priority: CM

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that providing quality education and all the other necessary facilities to the students studying in government schools of the state is a top priority for the government.

Chairing a high-level review meeting over the functioning of the school education and literacy department he also gave necessary instructions to the officials regarding the appointment of teachers, running model schools etc.

He said that due to the lack of teachers studies should not be impacted in the schools and asked to speed up the recruitment process. It was informed that consent has been received to create 50,000 posts of assistant teachers over which now cabinet nod is needed while recommendations have been made to the personnel department for appointment of 5610 teachers in plus two schools and 690 laboratory assistants while necessary steps are being taken for appointment on posts of 979 teachers in model schools and 267 laboratory assistants.

The Chief Minister said that in government schools the education of children should be ensured with modern means and where there are arrangements for smart classes their software and e-content should be regularly updated. Officials of the department said that in 974 schools ITC labs have been made operational and the department was working to establish these labs at the middle school level.

The Secretary of the department informed the Chief Minister that to teach in English medium in 89 backward blocks model schools have been sanctioned in which classes have commenced in 84 schools. In these schools the students are selected via Jharkhand Academic Council however due to a lack of hostel and transportation system children are facing problems in reaching the schools over which the Chief Minister directed to take all necessary steps to ensure the presence of the students in the schools and even directed to take geo-tagging of the schools. Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
