Heavy rains to lash Jharkhand after 72 hours; MET sounds alert

Ranchi: The local Meteorological Centre has issued an alert of moderate to heavy lightning and thunder in isolated pockets of Jharkhand during the next two days. At the same time, the Met Office also issued an alert of heavy rain after the next 72 hours.

As per the weather station, satellite pictures showed a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand between 1.5 and 2.1 km above the mean sea level. A trough also runs over Jharkhand and the neighbourhood to Vidarbha across north Chhattisgarh and southeast Madhya Pradesh at 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh and its neighbourhood persist and it was extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Meanwhile light to moderate rain occurred at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.

The highest rainfall of 36.2 mm was recorded at Latehar. Rainfall statistics revealed that Jharkhand was still facing a deficit of 44 per cent. Against normal rainfall of 132.2 mm the state has so far this month actually received 74.6 mm.
