Ranchi: Special prayers by certain sections of the people in temples and churches, partying and cultural events marked the ushering in of New Year 2022 in the capital city Ranchi and other districts of the state.
Devout people flocked to temples to offer special poojas to welcome the new year while churches arranged New Year eve services. People in several colonies and apartments organised events mark with dance and music while many people cut cakes to welcome the new year.
Private clubs and hotels organised dance and other events by following restrictions imposed by the district administration to check the spread of covid-19 and the new variant Omicron. A large number of revealers were also seen till late Friday night at the pictures locations and other hotspots of the capital city till late Friday night. Shops selling Cakes and liquor did brisk business and long queues of buyers were seen before the liquor shops.
The district administration has deployed a large number of police personnel and magistrate in the main road and other spots of the capital including parks, waterfalls and dams which see a huge rush of people who indulge in picnics and parties to welcome the new year. Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Leader of Legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi have extended their new year greetings to the people of the state.
