President launches schemes worth Rs 3,455.89 cr in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov 15:  President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday launched, or laid the foundation stones of, various schemes entailing total expenditure of Rs 3,455 crore in Jharkhand to coincide with the state’s 17th Foundation Day.

The President launched the Rs 636 crore Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme under which 57 lakh families would be covered. Under the scheme the families would be provided insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh. The scheme covers small and big 980 diseases. He also inaugurated the 108 free ambulance scheme worth Rs 290 crore.

Mr Kovind also launched the Rs 1500 crore JOHAR Yojana under which two lakh families would be covered and their earning would be enhanced. Members of the SC/ST community would be given priority in the scheme while 50 per cent women would also be getting benefits of the scheme.

The President also laid foundation stone for different schemes of the urban development department under which a mart road would be built from Raj Bhawan to Birsa Chowk at an investment of Rs 464.90 crrore, construction of Harmu flyover at Rs 294.04 crore, construction of Kantatoli flyover at Rs 181.12 crore and smart road from Birsa Munda Airport to Birsa Chowk with an investment of Rs 89.83 crore.

During the function Mr Kovind also handed over appointment letters among specialists doctors and Ayush doctors, teachers in plus 2 school, newly appointed principals in colleges, constables in police department and also distributed tabs among Manki, Mundas and Gram Pradhans.

Overall as part of the state formation day celebrations a total of 3,08,858 beneficiaries were provided free LPG connections under Ujjwala Yojana while 1,26,809 people were given funds under Mudra Yojana whiel soil health cards was distributed among 1.25 lah farmers. Grih Pravesh was performed under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (Grameen) for 51,000 people while 24,019 under Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana (Urban), 35,000 sakhi mandals were provided bank loans while money was paid to 29,019 people under crop insurance scheme.

Pumpsets was distributed among 10,000 people while 7,7111 manki, mundas and gram pradhans and teachers under e-vidyavahini yojana were provided tabs. On the other hand 254 BPL families were given cows on 90 per cent grants. Over all among 7,19,587 beneficiaries deeds and assets worth Rs 3325.15 crore was distributed.
