JMM predicts big win in Ghatsila, slams BJP for divisive politics

Ranchi:  Jharkhand Mukti Morcha spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya expressed confidence that voters in Ghatsila would deliver a decisive mandate for his party in the upcoming local body election, calling it a renewal of the support JMM received ten months ago. Addressing a press conference, Bhattacharya said public sentiment during the campaign showed strong backing for JMM candidate Somesh Chandra Soren and predicted a clear victory on November 14.

Bhattacharya claimed BJP workers were “demoralized and regretful” for contesting in Ghatsila, saying locals have already made up their minds to support JMM’s development-focused agenda. He outlined four key issues shaping the poll — expanding education through a new tribal university and engineering college with mining courses, boosting tourism to create jobs, reviving the closed Hindustan Copper Limited unit, and honoring tribal icons such as Shibu Soren and Ramdas Soren.

He accused BJP of fielding outsiders and attempting to divide voters on communal lines by branding Bengali-speaking residents as “Bangladeshi.” Such polarization, he said, had already been rejected by voters across Santhal Pargana constituencies, where BJP suffered successive defeats.

Bhattacharya said JMM’s governance under Chief Minister Hemant Soren had strengthened education, women’s empowerment, and youth employment. Quoting Guruji Shibu Soren’s message of “Padho, likho, sangharsh karo” (Study, learn, and struggle), he said Ghatsila would soon emerge as a model constituency.

On Bihar elections, Bhattacharya alleged that BJP’s “A, B, C team — A for agency, B for BJP, C for commission” was active but expressed faith that Bihar’s electorate would resist any manipulation. He dismissed remarks by former chief minister Raghubar Das labeling Santhal Pargana as “jhola pargana,” calling them proof of frustration and political decline.

“Ghatsila will vote for harmony, dignity, and progress,” Bhattacharya said, urging residents to turn out in large numbers. He concluded that JMM’s victory on November 14 would be a “people’s verdict against hate and deception.”
