Ranchi — In a major educational initiative, the Jharkhand government has opened applications for free residential coaching for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students aspiring to crack the NEET and JEE examinations.
The programme, introduced under the “Jharkhand Scheduled Tribe Education Upliftment Programme” by the Department of SC, ST, Minority, and Backward Classes Welfare, aims to nurture bright tribal students by providing them with access to premier coaching without financial burden.
A total of 300 meritorious students will be chosen for the year-long residential programme to be held at the Multipurpose Hall-cum-Training Centre in Hindpiri, Ranchi. The state government has tied up with a well-known Kota-based coaching institute to deliver high-quality training.
According to Sanjay Kumar Bhagat, Project Director of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency, the scheme represents a “progressive move” to empower tribal youth through education and bridge socio-economic gaps.
Students selected for the programme will receive classroom coaching by experienced teachers, hostel accommodation, study materials, digital tablets preloaded with e-content, library access, and other facilities — all free of charge.
Eligibility is restricted to ST students who are permanent residents of Jharkhand. Applicants’ parents must not hold regular government jobs, and those enrolled in other government coaching initiatives cannot apply.
Students must attach their caste certificate, Aadhaar card, latest passport photo, and academic mark sheets with the application.
Application forms are available online at www.jharkhandshikshautthan.com and offline at District Welfare Offices. Offline applicants should submit completed forms along with necessary documents before the deadline.
Selection will be carried out through document verification and a merit-based test. The final date for submission is November 19.
