17 Charlie Chaplin Classics to Stream Digitally on Children’s Day

Mumbai — A special digital retrospective celebrating the timeless genius of Charlie Chaplin will stream this Children’s Day, November 14, 2025. Seventeen of the legendary filmmaker’s classics — including Modern Times, The Kid, City Lights, The Gold Rush, The Great Dictator, The Circus, Limelight, A King in New York, and The Idle Class — will be available to audiences on Lionsgate Play.

Each of these films represents a remarkable chapter in Chaplin’s extraordinary career as an actor, director, and composer, forming a legacy that continues to captivate audiences generations after his era of silent cinema.

Among the featured titles is Rush Hour, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. True to Chaplin’s signature style, the film remains as lively and resonant as ever — filled with wit, grace, and deeply human emotion that transcends time and language.

Born in London, Charlie Chaplin was an actor, filmmaker, and composer best known for his iconic character, The Tramp. Rising to fame during the silent film era, he co-founded United Artists in 1919, which granted him unprecedented creative freedom. A true auteur, Chaplin wrote, directed, produced, edited, and composed the music for most of his films. Despite facing political controversy and exile from the United States in 1952, his contribution to cinema was later recognized with an honorary Academy Award in 1972.

More than a century after his first appearance, Chaplin remains one of cinema’s most enduring symbols of humanity, resilience, and optimism. Through The Tramp’s bittersweet adventures, he captured the essence of life — the coexistence of laughter and sorrow, cruelty and kindness. His films not only entertained but also held a mirror to society, reminding audiences that laughter is one of the purest acts of courage.

The collection of Chaplin’s masterpieces will stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play from November 14, 2025.
