Ranchi, Dec 23--Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh today said four districts of Jharkhand would among the 41 districts in the country where the first phase of Direct Cash Transfer programme would be rolled out on January 1, says a PTI report.

"Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Sareikela-Kharsawan and Ranchi are among the districts where Direct Cash Transfer programme will begin," he said while addressing PCC leaders and workers here.

Total cash would be in the hands of the beneficiaries and Centre was determined to work for the people's welfare, he said.

Dismissing the Opposition's fear over FDI in multi-brand retail, Ramesh said FDI would only benefit the people.

Ramesh called upon the PCC leaders to work itself into a strong force in the state.
