Phulo-Jhano Aashirwad Yojana turning to be a boon for women

Ranchi: The Phulo-Jhano Yojana Aashirwad Yojana launched by the state government is turning out to a boon for the tribal women of the state.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide a honourable way of earning to the women who use to earlier sell ‘hadia’ (local liqour). A woman Sushila Devi who use to earlier sell Hadia has now opened a ration shop in her village by taking advantage of the scheme.

Sushila who hails from Konaki village of Kanke block said that to make a living for the family she was forced to sell liquor as there was no source of additional income for the family.

She said that in this business on many occasions her pride and dignity was hit but due to the needs of the family she could not think of any other means to earn extra money. She said that in the month of September the women associated with self help group informed her that she can join other businesses also after she decided to join the Phulo-Jhano Aashirwad Yojana and soon she was able to open her ration shop which has brought positive changes in her life.

Sushila is a happy woman now who says that the scheme has helped her to live a life of honour and dignity. However this was not the story of Sushila alone as thousands of other women have also taken advantage of the scheme and have adopted farming, agriculture, forest produce, goat rearing and fisheries as source of income.
