Govt to organise Global Jharkhand Fest from 2018: Raghubar

Ranchi: Come 2018 and Jharkhand would be ready to host Global Jharkhand Fest. The announcement was made by chief minister (CM) Raghubar Das on the eve of Karma Puja celebrations at Governor House’s Birsa Mandap on Thursday.

Das said the purpose to organizing such an event would be to showcase the cultural identity of Jharkhand across the world.

Relating the relevance of Karma Puja held to worship the nature, Governor Droupadi Murmu said that all the festivals of Jharkhand are connected to the environment. She said “ Karma is not festival of  particular community rather it festival of the state”.

Meanwhile, Das highlighted on the folk songs and dances of this state. He said since dancing helps residents in relieving out stress, the state government has decided to ensure land for Akhra in every village. He further added on the need of cultural preservation.

Regional languages have been incorporated in state level competitive examinations in order to preserve this cultural mark. A budget of Rs 3.58 crore has been sanctioned by the state government for construction of buildings for carrying out researches on tribal and regional languages.

Students performed dances on the nine local languages including Kudukh, Ho, Mundari, Khadia, Santhali, Nagpuri, Panchpargania, Khortha and Kurmali on this occassion. A sum of Rs 50,000 would be felicitated to every group which performed here.

Apart from Murmu and Das, former CM Babulal Marandi, Hemant Soren, additional chief secretary SK Satpathy and Sanjay Kumar, the principal secretary to CM were also present during this event.
