Establishment of employment generating industries is priority for government: Chief Minister

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the establishment of employment-generating Industries is a priority for his government. Chairing a review meeting over the functioning of the industries department he said that the creation of employment is one of the top priorities for the state government and along with that revenue generation should be ensured.

He directed the officials that for the development of the industries new innovative ideas should be encouraged and a team should be formed for industry promotion which should review the works that are happening in the industrial sector across the world and should also function to attract the industrialists.

He said that in the state under the new culture steps should be taken for the establishment of the industries. The Chief Minister said that there was a need to further expand the food processing sector as in this sector currently only food processing of tomatoes for ketchup and Green Chili for the sauce is being done but there are many other fruits and other vegetables which can be used in food processing. He said that the farmers should be encouraged that they should also come forward in the area of food processing and the government was ready to extend full cooperation to them.

He also suggested the officials to encourage marketing of the processed food. Hemant Soren said that in the state small and cottage industries should be encouraged so that a change is brought in the life of the people who are involved in these sectors and also efforts should be made so that the products manufactured get a market.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the work of the Mati Kala board during which he asked the officials to make sure that the items manufactured by the potters and sculptors get a market. He said at the present time the trend of using utensils made of mud has increased and this needed to be further encouraged as not only it was good for health but was also environment friendly.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister directed the secretary of the industries department to take steps so that a manufacturing unit of a bicycle in the state is established as soon as possible. He said that Industrialists who want to set up their units in this sector should be given all the facilities by the state government.

During the meeting Industries Secretary Puja Singhal highlighted the achievements of the department and also detailed the future schemes to be undertaken. Those who are present in the meeting included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh Development Commissioner K K Khandelwal and others.
