Environment would not be compromised for sake of development: Chief Minister

Ranchi, Aug 8: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that his government was committed to ensure that environmental issues and concerns are addressed while the development takes place simultaneously in the state.

 

Addressing the people after kick starting the plantation drive in the premises of the New Vidhan Sabha building being built in Kute he said that Water Forest and Land are not mere slogans but are part of the legacy and its protection and enrichment was the responsibility of all. He said that trees and environment are related to source of income and also spirituality of the people of the state.

 

The Chief Minister categorically said that despite being in the era of development he and his government was not in favour of such progress in which the environment is put on the line. He said that over the past two years massive plantation drive has been undertaken in the state and has been given the shape of a people’s movement.

 

He said that people who follow Srana and Sanathan Dharmas are worshippers of nature and in their lives tress and environment are inseparable parts. He said that the talks which are being now held across the world regarding global warming and environment protection has been advocated by the followers of these two religions centuries ago.
