Gumla/Ranchi, Aug 6: In yet another case of gross apathy by the government hospitals and the doctors working there a father was forced to carry his dead son on his back to his home after the doctors failed to provide him an ambulance at Sadar Hospital of the Gumla district
The parents of the child had reached the Sadar Hospital Saturday for the treatment of their son but he could not be saved and died. Their demand for ambulance was not met by the doctors after which the father was forced to carry his son on his back all the way to his home as the child’s mother walked behind them crying.
The deceased was a student of class one of Mamrala School of Basia. Due to lack of money the parents could not even take an auto-rickshaw back home despite the fact that 10 ambulances are available in the Sadar Hospital in Gumla. The child was on Thursday admitted by the parents at Sisai Referral Hospital after which he was referred to the Sadar Hospital for better medical aid.
He was brought o the hospital yesterday where it was diagnosed that the child was suffering from Malaria. The doctors prescribed certain medicines which were not available at the hospital and due to lack of money the parents could not purchase the medicines from outside due to which the child died yesterday evening.
Meanwhile on Sunday Gumla DC Shravan Say reached the hospital and issued necessary instructions. He asked the civil surgeon to ensure that all medicines are present in the hospital and also ensure that ambulances are provided to the patients.
